Test Scene and Studio Photographer
Part-time, based in Seattle, WA

As our Test Scene and Studio Photographer, you will work with DPReview’s Editorial team to run the tests at the core of our camera reviews, including our studio test scene. You will own the delivery of studio scene results for all cameras, provide written analysis of test results for camera reviews, assist with video production, act as a liaison between DPReview and manufacturers, and manage DPReview’s stock of cameras and lenses. We expect you to be able to work independently and with as much attention to detail as we apply to our own work.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the technology behind digital imaging, an excellent working knowledge of consumer digital imaging devices, demonstrated experience with technical or editorial writing, some experience with video production, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Online Community Coordinator
Part-time, location flexible

As a Community Coordinator, you will work with our most valuable asset: the members of our online community. In this role, you will act as a primary point of support for our community moderators, engage with members of the DPReview community across select forums to assist with site questions, relay community feedback and story ideas to our editorial and business teams, provide support to readers requesting assistance and review and approve posts flagged for moderation.

Ideal candidates will have excellent written communication skills, experience working with or managing an online community or interest group, experience with community moderation, and a passion for creating great user experiences. Familiarity with DPReview’s forum and commenting systems is a plus.

Freelance editing and writing roles
Part-time, location flexible

We’re seeking talented freelancers for multiple roles with the DPReview team. Freelancers should have technical and industry knowledge across their area(s) of focus, ideally with industry contacts you can resource, and have excellent instincts about what constitutes a good story. Working with our Features Editor, you will pitch articles or other content to support DPReview’s editorial needs and deliver on deadline regularly and reliably.

Key qualifications for all freelance roles:

  • Demonstrated experience or expertise in one or more content areas listed below
  • Documented experience writing regularly for a camera industry or tech publication
  • Ability to consistently deliver on a deadline
  • A firm commitment to writing articles regularly (minimum 2x per month)

News Editor

Do you have a passion for photo industry news? Is your Rolodex overflowing with industry contacts? As a News Editor, you will be responsible for sourcing industry news, identifying stories important to DPReview readers, and delivering news articles independently and with minimal review before publication. Your deep knowledge of the camera industry will allow you to provide insight and perspective on the news that goes beyond the facts to better inform and educate readers. Experience writing for a tech or news publication is a must.

Camera Reviewer

Do you aspire to write camera reviews for DPReview? This role isn’t for the faint of heart! You will need a foundational knowledge of the science and technology behind digital cameras, experience using a broad selection of digital cameras, and a solid historical perspective on the digital camera industry. You can work quickly and independently to deliver reviews on short deadlines and have demonstrated experience writing technical product reviews.

Lens Reviewer

We’re seeking a freelance writer knowledgeable about lenses and optics to write lens reviews. You will need a foundational knowledge of the science and technology behind lenses and the ability to test and evaluate the technical performance of lenses in real-world settings. You can work quickly and independently to deliver reviews on short deadlines and have demonstrated experience writing technical product reviews.

Buying Guide Editor

As a Buying Guide Editor, you will help craft and maintain DPReview’s library of buying guides. This position requires a broad knowledge of the camera market, including current models across price categories, excellent editing and organizational skills, some knowledge of HTML, and experience working within a content management system. Previous experience working with buying guides is strongly desired.

Freelance Writer: Smartphones

Help DPReview expand its coverage of smartphone cameras. This beat requires a broad knowledge of the smartphone market, emphasizing cameras, mobile imaging and video. This role requires technical knowledge of smartphone imaging technology, complementary technologies such as computational photography and AI and the ability to synthesize this information into consumer-friendly stories like product reviews and explainer articles.

Freelance Writer: Drones

We seek knowledgeable drone enthusiasts and pros to write educational stories and product reviews. Applicants should be familiar with the consumer drone market, from beginner to prosumer models, and be current on industry trends. US-based drone writers who wish to write product reviews must have FAA Part 107 certification.
