Sony FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS II sample gallery

Sony’s new FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS II covers a classic zoom range in a relatively compact package. We put it to the test shooting a variety of subjects: surfing, kayaking, birds and an Independence Day pet parade. We even managed to sneak in a couple of mountain landscape photos.

The lens is quick to focus, thanks to its four XD linear motors, and with a minimum focus distance of 0.26m (10.2″) it allows you to get close to your subject. It provides 1:2 macro capability across the zoom, which increases to 1:1 when used with a 2x teleconverter. Speaking of teleconverters, the lens is compatible with Sony’s 1.4x and 2x teleconverters, ensuring you can add some extra range to the long end when needed. We’ve included a number of images shot with the SEL14TC (1.4x) teleconverter so you can see how image quality stacks up with a converter attached.

Check out the photos and let us know what you think of the image quality in the comments.
