DJI’s Mini 3 Pro now offers 10-bit color in the D-Cinelike video profile

When we published our review of DJI’s sub-250g Mini 3 Pro drone, on May 10th, a few readers noted there wasn’t any mention of 10-bit color in the video profile. The fact is, it wasn’t yet available. One week later, on May 17th, DJI quietly announced a new firmware update but failed to mention that users can now record 10-bit color video in the D-Cinelike video profile. Now it’s possible.

Having the ability to shoot 10-bit color allows videographers to get more detail in their imagery, and post-process clips that can better match up with the footage captured on similar cameras. Color grading is much easier as banding, which is more common with 8-bit recording, is a less likely side effect in post-processing.

Skyscope’s Winfried Halberstadt, a German drone pilot, created a before-and-after comparison of how the 8-bit Mini 3 Pro and updated 10-bit D-Cinelike picture profiles appear during post-processing. This latest color profile upgrade makes the Mini 3 Pro more of a ‘pro’ drone than it was before. Here are the notes from DJI’s official forum:

With the latest DJI Fly app update, the RC-N1 remote controller is also compatible with the Air 2S, Mavic 3, Mini 2, and Mavic Air 2 drones. Tripod mode is not yet available on the Mini 3 Pro.
