Atoll tripod collar makes camera angle adjustment a breeze, no matter your gear

Tripod collars aren’t the most glamorous photo accessory, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful. A good tripod collar can make life much easier and your camera equipment more stable.

It’s always convenient to be able to easily adjust and rotate the angle of your camera using a tripod collar. However, most lenses don’t include a built-in collar. To take advantage of the utility of a tripod collar without requiring any modification to existing lenses, photography accessory maker Silence Corner has launched a new tripod lens collar on Kickstarter called the Atoll. It may look like a regular tripod collar, but it is designed to work with lenses that don’t typically include a tripod collar, such as ultra-wide angle or standard zoom lenses.

Atoll attaches directly to your camera, and its ring goes around your lens mount, but it doesn’t prevent you from changing lenses. Atoll comes in three sizes. They are compatible with a wide range of cameras and lenses, including mirrorless cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Olympus/OM, Sony and Panasonic. Atoll attaches to your camera’s tripod mount and has an adjustable height. The circular bracket goes around the base of your lens and is compatible with most lenses. A full compatibility list is available on Kickstarter.

Once the Atoll is attached to your camera and on a tripod, you can freely rotate your camera and lens, allowing you to easily level your camera or even go from landscape to portrait orientation – no need for a special L bracket. There are three click points at 0, 90 and 180 degrees.

With 24 days left in the Kickstarter campaign, Atoll’s promise has already resonated with photographers. The original campaign goal of $10,000 has been smashed, and the project has over $80,000 in pledged funding. Atoll had photographer Daniel Kordan go hands-on with the new product ahead of the campaign. You can see the quick hands-on review video below.

Although it isn’t yet publicly available, Atoll also received a Red Dot award for 2022. The jury said, ‘The Atoll has a puristic yet premium appearance and provides a clever solution for adjusting the recording angle.’

Atoll is available for as little as $79 with a special early bird price. You will be able to select your size before it ships beginning in October. For more information, visit Kickstarter.
